Brand
Maxon is the pedal brand of Nisshin Onpa, a Japanese company that started in the mid-1960s making pickups for guitar makers such as Greco, Aria and Ibanez and began building effects in 1969. For decades it designed and built the pedals Ibanez sold around the world, including the TS808 and TS9 Tube Screamers, the AD9 and the FL9, while selling the same designs in Japan under its own name. Engineer Susumu Tamura designed the original OD808 in 1979. Nisshin stopped making the TS9 for Ibanez in 2002 and began selling its 9-series designs as Maxons, now with true bypass switching. Godlyke distributed Maxon in the Americas until the deal ended around 2020. In a listing, read the model name closely, since the OD808, OD808X and OD-9 are different pedals, and on the Pro models confirm it powers up from your supply.
