55 pedals · 9 brands · 1960s–2000s
The pedals on classic records were built in huge numbers, and lots of them still work. A used Tube Screamer or DS-1 does the same job as a new one for less, and the old versions have stories of their own. That’s also why reissues sold as originals, swapped chips and quiet mods turn up everywhere. Each page covers one pedal, with its story, what to check in the listing photos, and the eBay listings we’d buy.
