Vox · V845
The V845 is Vox's entry-level wah, and Vox pitches it plainly as the workhorse. Like the V847, it's built to the specifications of the original wah Vox developed in the 1960s, the pedal Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton made famous in 1967. It comes in a lighter, all-black case with an AC power jack, so you're not burning through batteries, and Vox calls it its most affordable design. Vox doesn't list the V847A's buffered input or redesigned inductor for it. Analog Man can fit true bypass to a V845 and change the pot, which tells you it doesn't have true bypass from the factory and that the pot is the part to upgrade if it wears. That makes the V845 a good first wah or a spare for the gig bag. If you already know you love the Vox sound and want more care in the parts, step up to a V847A or one of the V846 reissues.
The treadle pot is the usual wear point and gets scratchy with use. Check the toe switch and the jacks too.
